Matthew Dunne is a 25-year-old photographer living in Melbourne. Matthew first became interested in photography when he moved to Mildura in rural Victoria. Photography was a way for him to find the absurd and humorous in a remote town.

He moved from the desert to the coast and began dabbling in landscapes but living in the city led him to focus on people. Matthew’s photos are candid, spontaneous, voyeuristic and attempt to evoke a sense of nostalgia, and a slow, steady smile.

In 2015 I left a cold snap in Australia for a heat wave in Europe. Traveling through Italy, a country where light dominates – either falling like shards through the cities, or washing out the colours of the coast – I spent a few weeks sweating, swimming, and making photos.
